Bean Counter is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our app.
Data Collection and Storage
Local Data Storage
Bean Counter stores all your coffee tracking data locally on your device, including:
- Coffee consumption records
- Espresso machine cost and pricing information
- Expense entries
- Photos of receipts or coffee purchases
Important: This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers or any third parties.
API Keys
If you choose to use the optional AI photo analysis feature, you must provide your own API key from either:
- Anthropic (Claude API)
- OpenAI (GPT-4 API)
Your API keys are:
- Stored securely in your device's Keychain
- Never transmitted to Bean Counter's servers
- Only used to communicate directly with the AI provider you selected
- Under your control and can be removed at any time in Settings
Third-Party Services
When you use the AI photo analysis feature with your own API key:
- Your receipt photos are sent directly to your chosen AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI)
- These providers process the images according to their own privacy policies
- We recommend reviewing their privacy policies:
Data We Do NOT Collect
Bean Counter does NOT:
- Collect any personal information
- Track your usage or behavior
- Use analytics or tracking tools
- Sell or share any data
- Require account creation or login
- Access your data in any way
Your Control
You have complete control over your data:
- All data is stored locally on your device
- You can delete all data at any time using "Reset All Data" in Settings
- Uninstalling the app removes all local data
- You can remove API keys at any time in Settings
Children's Privacy
Bean Counter does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app is designed for adult users tracking their coffee expenses.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted with an updated "Last Updated" date.
